1. What is BMI?
BMI is a ratio of a person's weight to height. BMI is commonly used to classify weight as "healthy" or "unhealthy".
-
2. Can BMI be used by everyone?
For most people, BMI provides a good measure of obesity. However, BMI does not provide actual information on body composition (i. e. the proportions of muscle, bone, fat and other tissues that make up a person's total body weight).
-
3. What does BMI mean?
a) For an adult:
BMI values between 18.5 and 24.9 are considered "normal" or "healthy" weight. BMI values between 25 and 29.9 are considered "overweight" and 30 and above are considered "obese." BMIs above 25 are unhealthy and have been shown to increase the risk of certain chronic diseases. BMIs under 18.5 are considered "underweight."

4. When should I weigh myself?
We recommend that you weigh yourself once or twice a week, always on the same scales and under the same conditions (preferably in the morning, naked, when you are not dehydrated). The most important thing is to measure weight changes over a long term.
-
5. The weight displayed is wrong/is different to the weight measured by my doctor
Every weighing scales is calibrated differently and there can be some differences between the measurement results on two different products. However, if these variations are under +/- 2kg, then the product is not defective. The important thing is always to weigh oneself on the same scales, under the same conditions, one or twice a week in order to track long term changes.
-
6. The weight displayed varies
The more precise a weighing scales is, the more sensitive it is. You must always place your scales on a hard and flat surface. During the measurement, try to stay as still as possible. It is perfectly normal to have differences up to 500g between two measurements - this can be explained simply standing differently on the product. Again, the important thing is to measure long term variations and not the difference between two measurements.
-
7. My scales doesn't display anything?
If the product is new, you must connect a battery. Some of our scales are supplied with lithium batteries (one or two depending on the model) which should be inserted into the battery housing underneath the scales. In certain products they will already be inserted and you simply need to pull out the tab protruding from the battery housing. Always make sure that the + sign is visible once you have inserted the batteries. Other models use alkaline batteries which are not supplied. These must be inserted into the battery housing at the back of the scales. See instruction manual for further details.
-
8. Where do I find lithium batteries?
You can find lithium batteries in most large retailers or in specialist camera shops or pharmacies. Our lithium products use battery type CR2032
-
9. My scales used to work perfectly and now it measures wrong?
Have you checked the battery? Could the scales have fallen or been hit? Has it ever had more than it's maximum capacity on it? Has any water got inside it? These may all be reasons for a defect developing.
-
10. How do I change from kg to Stones or pounds?
There should be a small switch underneath the scales. This can be used to switch from grams (kg) to pounds or stones.
-
11. Err0
This means that the scales is not properly set or "initialized" : Remove the battery and reconnect it. Then tap lightly on the scales when the display is off - it will start up and then switch off. Now step directly on the scales and stay still. Your weight should be displayed. For certain models, you must tap on the sale before every use and weight for 0.0 to be displayed before stepping on. You will recognize these products because they will be described in the instruction manual as TAP-ON.
-
12. Err1
This means that the weight was not stable. Make sure to stay perfectly still during measurement.
-
13. Err2
This means "overload"- is it possible that the weight applied is over the maximum capacity(140kg or 150kg depending on the model)?
-
14. Lo or Batt is displayed
This means that the battery needs replacement.
